Cornfield Gambit: All Episodes
The Story
Jack Morgan returns to his Iowa hometown from Chicago with a simple mission: help local farmers thrive. He purchases their corn at premium prices and ships it to organic food enterprises, tripling everyone’s incomes. However, greed quickly takes hold. Sarah Brown manipulates a group of farmers led by Bill Carter into believing Jack profits unfairly from their labor. Despite his repeated explanations and warnings, the farmers remain stubbornly deluded and refuse to trust him. The scheme collapses when Sarah and her con artist partners flee with all the money, leaving the farmers with total losses. Instead of reflecting on their own mistakes, they intensify their harassment of Jack, trying to shift all the blame onto him. Jack finally drops his leniency. He calls the police and uses the law to defend himself, ending the conflict for good. He then leaves the town behind and launches a brand-new agricultural cooperative in the neighboring county.
