The Story

Evelyn Reed returns from a surgical fellowship to discover her husband, Michael, caring for a baby with his dying first love. Her in-laws treat Evelyn like an intruder in their own home. She refuses to beg for her place and files for divorce instead. Evelyn exposes the family’s betrayal during the child’s baptism ceremony. She then departs for South Sudan to work with Doctors Without Borders. Regret eventually drives Michael across the globe to find her. By the time he arrives, Evelyn has transformed into a person he can no longer reach.
