Hunter’s Warm Bride

The Story

Scholar Edmund sells his wife for 300 bucks to Rowan, a cruel hunter feared by every woman in the village. She expects harsh abuse, but Rowan treats her with unexpected tenderness. He brings wild flowers and warm meals, choosing to wait patiently for her. Meanwhile, her greedy in-laws sneak in at night. They assault her and steal Rowan’s precious white pheasants, an act that ruins Edmund’s official career. Reduced to a broken-handed drunkard, Edmund begs for mercy at their grand wedding. She holds Rowan’s hand firmly. She gains a sincere and warm marriage of her own, escaping the miserable contractual fate that Edmund created.
