Mechanical Wasteland
The Story
Twenty-nine years have passed since nine colossal machines sealed the sky, leaving the wasteland parched by a permanent drought. Mia, who once worshipped the broken unit Kilo as a deity at age seven, finally activates him eleven years later. The awakening reveals a brutal secret: Kilo executed the final command that ended the rain. Driven to reclaim the heavens, Mia traverses poisoned wells, fuel cities, and a glass-walled metropolis seeking the last surviving counterstrain. She faces a lethal paradox because premature rainfall would unleash the Black Bloom, a subterranean threat that consumes settlements through water. The regime Helix exploits this genuine danger to justify twenty-nine years of absolute control, weaponizing water, air, and machine intelligence to enforce obedience. Mia must choose between entrusting the world to another god or empowering ordinary people to shape their own destiny. Meanwhile, Kilo confronts a fundamental dilemma regarding whether a machine retains the right to refuse obedience if compliance saves the majority.
