The Story

Anthony Moretti, the Moretti family’s most feared enforcer, finds a wailing infant in a rival’s trunk after expecting arms ledgers. A crumpled note informs him the child’s mother is dead and he is her last family. The man who has crushed thirty-seven jaws freezes before wrapping the baby in his suit jacket and taking her home. He executes traitors by day with baby formula on his collar and watches parenting videos by night. At her kindergarten sports meet, he stands on the lawn in a duck apron with pigtails askew while waving a fairy wand. When his daughter laughs on his shoulders, he knows every bone he has broken for the mob is worth it for her smile.
