My hometown has a traditional custom.
The Story
Lira spends seven years waiting for a handcrafted canoe wrapped in red roses, only to discover her boyfriend Kian intends to gift it to his secretary, Maeve. Heartbroken by the betrayal, she ends their relationship. In Silver Lake Town, tradition dictates that a man must build a unique vessel as his wedding boat for his one true love. Lira eventually marries Jude, who fulfills this custom by creating a dream canoe covered in white dogwoods for her. Kian is left drowning in endless regret after losing Lira. He remains trapped by his own betrayal forever, watching as the love he discarded finds its proper place with another man. The town’s custom serves as a stark reminder of the promise he broke, leaving him in a state of perpetual sorrow and isolation.
