The next morning, Carl walks through the front door, alive and acting like the sweet man she once loved. He is not the cruel husband she interred beneath the soil. Esther confronts the impossible reality that the man standing before her defies the evidence of his murder. She questions whether Carl returned from the dead or if an imposter has taken his place, leaving her trapped between grief and terror as she tries to understand this sudden, inexplicable change in the man who destroyed her life.
