One Slap Destroyed Our Marriage

The Story

Marianne Whitlock’s patience shatters the moment her daughter Hope reveals the violent truth about her father. Born into a powerful pharmaceutical dynasty, Marianne stepped away from group management to protect Conrad Mercer’s dignity, allowing him to become CEO of Whitlock Therapeutics with her father’s backing. For fifteen years, she devoted herself to their family, suppressing suspicions of an affair and secret embezzlement because she believed Conrad would never harm his biological daughter. That faith evaporates when Hope discovers Conrad with Bianca Rowe. Bianca slaps Hope and crushes her hand under a stiletto. Hope begs her father for help, but Conrad coldly orders her to go home. Seeing the handprint on her daughter’s cheek and the injured hand, Marianne realizes her silence has only emboldened them. The polished years of marriage end in a single, devastating moment of betrayal and physical cruelty.
