Painted Rose
The Story
At twelve, Elara V loses her parents and falls under the control of her malicious uncle Marcus Vance. For a decade, Marcus steals her original artworks, signing them under the name of his biological daughter Celeste to build a fake child prodigy persona. He keeps Elara trapped by holding their elderly, gravely ill grandmother hostage, forcing her into a life of unlawful confinement and mental manipulation. He forbids her from visiting the woman she loves and demands she appear as a meek wallflower in public. Elara endures the silence by creating double-layer paintings that hide skulls, iron cages, and flames beneath gentle commercial landscapes. Every canvas becomes a wordless cry for justice as she plots her escape and waits for a powerful ally strong enough to challenge the Vance family’s wealth and influence. On the day of Celeste’s lavish wedding, Elara is ordered to paint a commemorative portrait backstage. She appears compliant while drawing the newlyweds, yet secretly sketches a massive skull hovering above their heads.
