Prisoner of the Deep

The Story

Sixteen-year-old Henry Drake witnesses the brutal murder of his father by the one-eyed pirate Crow before being blasted into the deep sea. The sea-queen Serena intervenes to save him, yet her action awakens an ancient curse. Scales rapidly crawl over his skin and gills split open behind his ears. Serena provides him with a mermaid’s tear that suppresses the transformation for one year. The condition is strict: he must locate the lost rune stone within that timeframe. Failure to find the stone will cause him to lose his identity entirely, turning him into a monster that roams the ocean.
