The Story

Orphan July and homeless drifter Dahu rely on each other as their sole family. Dahu steals to cover July’s schooling expenses, but his luck runs out when he attempts to pickpocket Li Wenbo. The man’s bodyguards beat Dahu for the theft. Desperate to protect her companion, July addresses Li Wenbo as Dad. The man freezes, suspecting she is faking a pitiful familiarity because he knows he cannot have children. He allows them to leave despite his suspicions. Later, Li Wenbo discovers that Dahu only stole to pay for July’s tuition. He decides to drop the matter entirely.
