The Story

Evelyn Collins signs a three-year contract to serve as secret mistress to heir Alfred Prescott, a move designed to settle her father’s debts. When the agreement nears its end, she discovers her true feelings for him. The arrival of Cecilia Bennett, Alfred’s former lover, destroys Evelyn’s confidence. She learns she was merely a replacement. Pregnant and determined to disappear, Evelyn forces Alfred to confront the truth. She asserts that he was the one who served as the replacement, not her.
