The Story

Jack Mercer, a former professional captain branded a violent madman eight years ago, returns to his small border town to defend The Border Yard. This old neighborhood field serves as the heart of the community, but real estate tycoon Victor Kane plans to demolish it to build a high-end commercial district. The local semi-professional team, Rio Cross FC, consists of ordinary citizens including veterans, mechanics, delivery drivers, and students. They face an impossible deadline: win the national amateur championship qualifier within thirty days or lose their home ground forever. Mercer takes the captain’s armband again, leading this group of underdogs who lack institutional support. He aims to defeat the capital’s professional teams to save the field and clear his name. The players fight to protect the dignity of their town against powerful commercial interests, relying on their unity and determination to overcome the odds.
