The Story

Sarah endures nine years as Richard’s wife before discovering mistress Chloe has dominated their home for seven. Their son Leo, who struggles with Asperger’s, ADHD, and epilepsy, chooses Chloe for parent night and mocks Sarah as an uncool loser. She files for divorce and surrenders custody, yet Richard demands she remain as a free nanny. She forces his signature on the papers and departs with only two pairs of flats. Chloe fakes a medical emergency using ketchup, luring Sarah back where Richard kicks her down stone steps into a storm. In the emergency room, Sarah denies having family and tells Leo to never call her Mom again. She secures a restraining order, retakes the bar exam, and joins a top Manhattan firm. Richard later begs her to handle his divorce from Chloe. She refuses and slaps him. Chloe stabs Richard, Leo inquires about trusts, and Sarah becomes a partner. The mother who stood on those rainy steps is already dead.
