The Story

Dawn Marlowe seeks the cold palace to avoid a gruesome fate as a disposable empress. She plans to irritate Emperor Leo Sterling by serving stale meals and ranting in her head. However, the emperor possesses the ability to read minds. Instead of anger, he finds her internal monologue amusing and begins to dote on her. Her attempts to secure banishment backfire as she accidentally wins his affection. The path to the cold palace transforms into an unexpected romance between the two. Dawn’s strategy to survive by offending the ruler fails when he becomes her devoted partner.
