The Gold-Digging Queen's Guillotine
The Story
Princess Isabella of Valen returns to the capital with a life saving plague remedy intended as a birthday gift for her father, King Arthur. The King is preparing to remarry Margaret, who resents Isabella for delaying the wedding. While riding through the streets, Margaret nearly runs down commoners with her carriage. Isabella stops her, but Margaret and her daughter publicly humiliate and beat the princess, accusing her of witchcraft. The corrupt city guard captain assists the attackers. Margaret burns Isabella's mother's portrait and the precious herbs required for the medicine. She then orders Isabella tied to a stake to burn alive. King Arthur learns the truth and arrives with his guards in a fury.
