The Heart That Could Not Forget

The Story

Alexander Carter dies in a crash the day before his wedding to the narrator, leaving everyone expecting her to shatter. Five years later, in a Manhattan hotel, he reappears alive, engaging in a passionate affair with her stepsister, Marjorie. He forces her onto a sofa while she groans, surrounded by used condoms that reveal a long relationship. Upon spotting the narrator, he smirks and offers her a place as his mistress, assigning her specific days while Marjorie becomes his wife. The narrator smiles, revealing she is the wrong target. Alexander remains unaware that she possesses video evidence from the night of the accident. He does not know that while they partied in Europe, she married his uncle, the true power behind the Carter family, and now shares her life with a four-year-old daughter.
