The King Insulted Me with One Copper Coin, Then Learned My Brother Saved His Life
The Story
King Richard humiliates Queen Elena by offering a single copper coin for her brother Arthur’s life. He lavishes his favorite, Caroline, with a gold carriage and sacred-spring privileges while ignoring the dying man. A hundred thousand gold coins are required to save Arthur from a poisoned arrow, but the king refuses to pay. Arthur dies, and Elena’s heart breaks with him. She signs the annulment papers, ending her marriage to the man who chose cruelty over compassion. The royal court witnesses the finality of her decision as she walks away from the throne.
