The Silent Dragon Song

The Story

Twenty-four-year-old Ilay hides her true gray scales beneath her mother’s forbidden golden grafts, shedding and replacing them annually to pass as a pureblood. At her coming-of-age ceremony, stepsister Selena and fiancé Cassian expose the deception, forcing the royal family to exile her to Blackmud Harbor. In the slave market, she meets Azazel, an ancient dragon stripped of his voice. They forge an equal Heart-Scale Pact and conceive an ancient white dragon egg unblessed by the Holy Church. To rescue her mother from the ice dungeon, Ilay sneaks back into the palace as a menial laborer. She gathers damning evidence including banned fertility potions, fabricated omens, and proof of Cassian’s infertility. A flesh-eating monster hatches from a fake dragon egg, unleashing ancient dragon power. Ilay tears down the lies of blood hierarchy. She overthrows the corrupt Holy Church and the decaying royal regime.
