The Story
A festive dinner turns into a confrontation when a woman visits her boyfriend’s home for Chinese New Year. Her future mother-in-law dictates three harsh rules at the table. The woman is forbidden from sitting down to eat with the family. She must also leave before the night ends. Finally, she is told that her entire salary belongs to the household once they marry. The boyfriend sits silently beside her, offering no defense or intervention. Faced with this blatant disrespect and control, the visitor reacts with immediate force. She flips the table in one swift move, rejecting the terms imposed upon her during the celebration.
