They Made Me Kneel at My Wedding

The Story

Avery Hayes kneels in her ivory wedding gown to wipe red wine from her mother-in-law’s shoes, only to drench Helen in ice water from a silver bucket. The humiliating act exposes Ethan Parker’s complicity, as he slaps her across the face to defend his mother. That single blow shatters Avery’s illusions, prompting her to cancel the ceremony and initiate divorce proceedings. Backed by her parents Richard and Diane, family member Logan, and attorney Caleb Morgan, she systematically dismantles the Parkers’ parasitic hold. She reviews property deeds and financial records to recover assets she funded during their three-year relationship, including housing, vehicles, tuition, and startup loans. Avery returns unaccepted wedding gifts and revokes the Parkers’ access to Hayes-owned bank accounts and vehicles. She avoids public arguments, focusing instead on reclaiming the wealth she used to support the family while tolerating their blind obedience to Helen.
