They Said She Was Too Much
The Story
Claire Morgan faces relentless criticism for being too complicated while raising her teenage daughter Lily. Her ex-husband Mark projects a perfect image online, yet he neglects child support, dominates school communications, and fabricates a custody case by labeling Claire unstable. After losing her restaurant job, Claire refuses to give up. She purchases an old food truck and rebuilds her life with two supportive friends. As her business expands, Mark weaponizes community gossip, online rumors, and an anonymous health complaint to turn people against her. Claire does not seek perfection to succeed. She relies on careful records and the truth to prove that exhaustion is not failure. Lily eventually sees through her father’s manipulation, strengthening their bond. With help from friends, legal aid, and an unexpected witness, Claire confronts Mark in court. She reclaims her life and demonstrates that she was never too much. She was simply finished making herself smaller.
