Uncle, Deeper Than That

The Story

MLB draft prospect Tate Walsh faces immediate fallout when a crude guide intended for teammate Jude leaks across the locker room. Gideon Mercer, Tate's honorary uncle and emergency contact, swiftly silences the scandal. He then retrieves the document and forces Tate to explain every word. Tate assumes this harsh interrogation is punishment, but Gideon is actually consumed by jealousy. The dynamic shifts when Jude reveals that Tate's uncle is in love with him, prompting Tate to see the truth. Then his runaway mother returns with a devastating twist. Tate was never a Mercer. Gideon knew this secret all along. He has stopped trying to be an uncle.
