5 Million Test: Family vs. Money

The Story

Zhang Baichun hides a five million yuan lottery ticket to test her children's sincerity after enduring years of abuse from her eldest son, Zhang Qiang. When Qiang and his wife discover the prize, they feign affection before kicking her out. Baichun turns to her younger son, Zhang Zhuang, but he rejects her, while his wife, Wang Yue, offers shelter. Baichun shares the secret with Wang Yue, yet when illness strikes, the sons refuse to pay for care. Zhang Zhuang forbids his wife from spending money on the treatment, prompting Wang Yue to divorce him and cover the bills herself. Moved by this sacrifice, Baichun gives the ticket to Wang Yue. On her deathbed, Baichun gathers her sons, who care only about the money. Desperate, she lies that she donated or tore up the prize. The sons search frantically for fragments, and Baichun passes away in disappointment.
