Back When He Loved Me

The Story

Claire Bennett endured twelve years of devotion to Ethan Carter, surviving marriage, miscarriage, and family abuse only to face betrayal after he achieves wealth. Her discovery of his teenage diary opens a rift across time. Shaken by the cruelty of her husband, seventeen-year-old Ethan materializes in the present to comfort his broken wife. He confronts the cold adult version of himself, but a binding rule dictates that the older man’s regret will cause the younger self to vanish. To prevent this erasure, young Ethan flees back to the past, deciding never to fall in love with Claire. Years pass, leaving a wealthy, isolated Ethan watching from afar as Claire finds happiness with another man. He is left alone, drowning in endless regret over the life he refused to claim.
