Drought Angel

The Story

Five-year-old Flora faces starvation in 1930s Texas while her cruel aunt Sybil treats her as dead weight. Kind single mother Clara sacrifices her family’s last two pounds of flour to rescue Flora from a circus deal, bringing her into the impoverished Miller home. Flora possesses the ability to understand animals, using a field mouse to find hidden corn and a seemingly worthless hen to lay thirty eggs at market. She later saves physician Lucas’s dog, restores ruined ginseng, and rescues heir Leonard. Sybil’s jealousy leads her to frame Flora for murder, leaving Daniel tortured by the accusation. Leonard eventually exposes the truth, clearing Flora’s name. Flora studies medicine and forgives Lily, standing as a beacon of hope for her community. The land remains cracked by drought, but Flora’s gifts bring unexpected life and relief to those around her.
