Farm Queen's Reckoning

The Story

Claire Sullivan shakes up rural Pennsylvania commerce by selling high-quality Napa cabbage directly to Philadelphia, bypassing middlemen to double local farmers' income. Her success angers wholesaler Vince, who dispatches his niece Vanessa to sow discord. Vanessa uses a fictional offer of fifty-five cents per pound to blind Maggie and other growers to the truth. They turn against Claire, smashing her warehouse and terminating their contracts. The deception unravels when the true purchase price of fourteen cents per pound surfaces, leaving vegetables rotting in fields with no buyer. Claire relocates to Lacross County, where she partners with new growers to secure large orders for fresh food chains. She registers an agricultural company and scales her operations, proving her resilience in the face of betrayal and market manipulation.
