Green Lies and Red Truths

The Story

A ten-year-old girl named Lily suffers daily shocks from a device her mother believes detects lies. The red bracelet sparks painfully when truth emerges, while her twin sister Ruby wears a fake green version to frame Lily for mischief. Their mother ignores Lily’s agony, showering attention only on Ruby. On New Year’s Eve, Lily’s appendix bursts, yet her mother dismisses the pain as a tantrum. She locks Lily inside and goes out to watch fireworks. Lily dies while writing her final truth in a diary. Three days later, the mother discovers the red bracelet reacts to fear and pain, while the green one is merely a toy. She puts on the bloody device and endures the shocks herself. The experience destroys her sanity, leading her to ruin the family. Lily’s soul finally finds freedom from the nightmare.
