He Said the Baby Is Too Expensive
The Story
Iris sacrifices her entire family fortune to marry Dorian, a man with no wealth or status. Three years later, she is due to deliver their first child, but her controlling mother-in-law, Tessa, declares the current hospital too costly. Tessa persuades Dorian to move Iris to a cheaper facility, and he complies without resistance. He submits to every demand from Tessa and begins harassing Iris himself. She endures unbearable pain in her pregnant belly while facing increasingly unreasonable requirements. Just as her strength fails, her father Alec arrives with gifts for the new grandchild. The arrival of Alec changes the dynamic in the room. Iris faces her husband and mother-in-law with new resolve. The situation shifts as Alec steps in to address the treatment his daughter receives. The household hierarchy is challenged by the presence of the true heiress’s family. Dorian and Tessa must confront the reality of Iris’s background. The power balance within the family unit begins to shift dramatically.
