I Adopted a Lucky Star (1)

The Story

The village brands Poppy a curse, yet her adoption changes everything. She guides Wade to a wild beehive, yielding twelve pounds of honey for his first payday. Next, she points out a creek teeming with fish, then pulls roadside weeds that restore sight to Grandma’s blind eye. At just three years old, this orphan girl knows every herb, predicts landslides, and earns the trust of wild pheasants who let her touch their eggs. Despite warnings that she collapsed the orphanage and brings bad luck, Wade ignores the gossip. He carries her into the hills to cut bamboo shoots and dig herbs. While local bachelors scrape by on pennies, Wade makes real money following her lead. The same villagers who once shunned her now beg her to examine their sick relatives. Poppy is not a curse. She is a lucky star who shines only on those who deserve it, proving herself to be the mountain’s greatest gift.
