Oath of Moon and Stars
The Story
Handmaiden Io’s forbidden love for Ares, King of the Gods, triggers the wrath of Mother Goddess Theia. The divine council turns against her, and Theia hunts Io to a cliff’s edge, leaving her presumed dead. Seven years pass, and Ares rules with greater power, haunted by a broken star-moon necklace he repaired himself. He believes his lover is gone, yet the memory of her remains sharp. During a visit to the mortal realm, he encounters street-performing twins in Athens. A boy plays a bay leaf while a girl taps seashells, performing the Star-Moon Song Io once played exclusively for him. The melody, the necklace, and their pale gold eyes mirror his own. Every clue points to a reunion he cannot face. Io survives in the mortal world, frail and half-blind, unaware of how close she is to her past. The twins have never known their father. The laws of the gods, a mother’s opposition, and mortal suffering stand between the separated lovers.
