Regret Is My Punishment

The Story

Karen, a housewife married to wealthy lawyer Tom, suffers a devastating tragedy when their home catches fire while she is away. The blaze leaves their five-year-old daughter, Anna, critically injured. Mary, a Good Samaritan, secures a ride on a fire truck driven by Captain Bob to rush the child to the ER for emergency surgery. As the truck speeds toward the hospital, it collides with Karen’s car. She is returning home after cheating on her husband. Karen demands an apology and compensation, blocking the vehicle’s path and wasting precious time. Mary, paramedic Eva, and onlookers attempt to reason with her, but Karen refuses to budge. She remains completely unaware that the fire truck is racing to save her own daughter’s life. The collision halts the emergency response, trapping the situation in a moment of tragic irony as Karen stands in the way of the help she desperately needs.
