Regret is the Punishment

The Story

Karen, a stay-at-home mother married to wealthy lawyer Tom, faces a tragedy when their house catches fire in her absence. Her five-year-old daughter Anna falls to her death during the blaze. Good Samaritan Merry boards the fire truck driven by Captain Bob to rush Anna to the emergency room for surgery. As the vehicle speeds toward the hospital, it collides with Karen’s car. She is returning home from an extramarital affair at the time of the crash. Unaware of the circumstances, Karen demands that the responders grovel for forgiveness and cover the repair costs. This insistence wastes critical minutes while Anna fights for her life. Merry, paramedic Eve, and kind passersby plead with Karen to move her vehicle. She refuses to budge, entirely oblivious to the fact that the fire truck she is blocking carries her own dying daughter.
