She's My Daughter, Not a Creature

The Story

Claire hides her newborn mermaid daughter, Sophie, in a secret cove after giving birth during a violent storm. A fisherman accidentally photographs the child, and the images eventually reach a marine center. The institution exploits legal loopholes to classify Sophie as marine life, capturing her and subjecting her to torture for pearls. Determined to save her child, Claire sneaks into the facility disguised as a cleaner. She forms an alliance with conscientious staff members and repentant townsfolk. Together, they open an abandoned tidal waterway to break through the institution’s greedy barriers. This effort finally sets Sophie free, allowing her to return to the ocean. Linked by a sensing pearl, mother and daughter promise to meet at every sunset, securing everlasting love across land and sea.
