The Story

Rita’s healing gift cannot save her from the cruelty of her own family. On a snowy Thanksgiving night, she prepares a lavish dinner at her uncle William’s home, but her mischievous cousin Jimmy destroys a scarf left by her parents. The ungrateful relatives abuse her, hire a homeless man to force her out, and plot to sell her. Cornered in a narrow alley, Richard and his wife rescue her at the last second. With no heir of their own, the couple adopts the lonely girl. Along the way, Rita uses her powers twice to resolve crises, attracting the attention of their rival Barbarossa. At the estate, she recovers the mistress’s lost belongings and discovers Arthur, the guardian’s father, is gravely injured. She heals the unconscious man and brings him back from the brink of death. Rita officially joins the Genovese family and dedicates her unique power to protecting her new relatives.
