The Green Lie and the Red Truth
The Story
A glowing bracelet marks ten-year-old Lily as a liar, shocking her whenever she speaks the truth. Her twin Ruby wears a fake device that frames Lily, blinding their mother to the child's hunger and pain. The mother locks Lily away, ignoring her desperate cries on New Year's Eve. As fireworks explode, Lily's appendix ruptures and she dies alone, leaving behind a diary. The mother discovers the body and the diary, realizing the bracelet detects fear rather than deceit. Ruby's accessory is merely a toy. The mother, wearing the bloodstained device, is horrified by her own deceptions. Guilt drives her insane, leading her to attack Ruby and cripple her. The father dies in despair. Finally, the mother passes away clutching the diary. Lily's spirit finds eternal peace, free from pain and lies.
