The Story

Dragon Emperor Waldric falls to betrayal, his essence stolen by adopted son Draven. Waking as frail half-blood Kane Westland, he defies mockery by claiming the Dragon Emperor’s Scepter and walking across lava. This act awakens ancient dragon Zepharion, which bows solely to him. Kane defeats the Sterling family’s strongest rider to become Lord of Westland, yet his sister Layla grows terrified that he is no longer her brother. A forbidden ritual traps Draven’s soul in Waldric’s corpse, creating a false emperor. The scepter rejects this fraud at the memorial, exposing the deception. In the final battle, Kane purifies Draven’s soul, revealing that his hatred destroyed him after bonding with an ancient dragon. Kane abolishes the pure-blood system, ruling that bonds depend on soul compatibility. Layla asks if her real brother remains inside him, but Kane has no answer. She walks away as an ancient dragon eye opens in the void.
