The Story

Ethan Kane returns to his border colony town after a decade of silence, defying the belief that the Swarm consumed him years ago. Once a broke mechanic and low-grade citizen, he was conscripted into the Gray Helmet Suicide Squad to serve as cannon fodder. While the Alliance quietly credits an Unnamed Marshal in its military textbooks, the town knows him only as a deserter. His family endures severe hardship, with his wife scavenging scrap, his crippled father facing abuse, and his daughter branded with shame. The mayor, local syndicate, and his own son humiliate them for his supposed abandonment. Ethan’s sole purpose is to force these individuals to acknowledge the truth about the soldier they buried. As the Swarm follows him back to the colony, the residents face the reality that the man they mocked was actually their only guardian.
