The Outcast Daughter-in-Law

The Story

An aging carpenter’s biased division of assets shatters his family, forcing the second daughter-in-law to sell bread for survival while the eldest suffers in silence and the third nearly divorces over gambling debts. A severe illness exposes the true character of each son. The eldest shirks his duty, and the youngest flees with the medical funds. Only the second couple spends their life savings to nurse the father. Regretting his past favoritism, the carpenter passes his ancestral craft secrets to the second son. This inheritance allows the second son to build a thriving furniture factory. The prodigal third son eventually returns to reconcile with the family. The three daughters-in-law unite, and their combined efforts lead the entire village toward prosperity.
