The Story

A secret union between Stella Lowell and Evan Yates shatters when Evan’s brother dies, leaving behind his pregnant sister-in-law, Ivy Shaw. Evan assumes responsibility for Ivy, who fakes depression to manipulate the household. Her calculated cruelty culminates in a violent push that causes Stella to miscarry. Despairing, Stella severs the marriage. Evan eventually uncovers Ivy’s true intentions and commits her to a psychiatric facility, believing he can rebuild his life with Stella.
