The Price of Selfishness
The Story
Karen, a housewife wed to lawyer Tom, is out when a fire engulfs their home. Her five-year-old daughter, Anna, falls to her death. Merry, a kind woman, joins Fire Chief Bob in the truck to rush Anna to the hospital for emergency surgery. Time is critical as the crew speeds down the road. The fire truck collides with Karen’s car just as she returns from an extramarital affair. Instead of moving, Karen demands an apology and compensation for the damages. She wastes precious minutes while Merry, paramedic Eve, and bystanders beg her to clear the path. Karen refuses to budge. She remains completely unaware that the vehicle blocking her way is trying to save her own daughter’s life. The crew stands helpless as Karen insists on her rights, oblivious to the tragic reality unfolding just meters away.
