The Snake God’s 79th Bride

The Story

Nyra, an orphan from a ruined noble line, becomes the seventy-ninth bride of Apophis after her aunt forces her into a deadly sacrifice. The ruthless Snake God suffers from a thousand-year poison that freezes his body, having drained the life force from his previous seventy-eight wives to survive. Nyra’s naturally warm constitution is the only thing that can ease his agonizing torment. As the three-month blood pact approaches its final deadline, she attempts to flee but is cornered by assassins. Apophis bursts through the door to protect her, and his fierce devotion moves Nyra to seek him out that night. She kisses him to share her warmth, but just as his fangs near her collarbone, he recoils in anguish. He is terrified of killing the woman he loves, leaving their life-or-death bond suspended between a trap that will consume her and a potential cure for their pain.
