The Story

Winnie Hart finds herself at Southridge Zoo after a string of bad luck, only to discover she can hear the animals speak. Waffles the tiger fakes hunger for snacks, the monkeys chant her name, and Reggie the crane critiques visitors with old-world charm. A goldfish constantly resets its memory, asking who it is every ten seconds. Her new boss, a director who hired her without an interview, texts her with smug emojis and sends mysterious bonuses. He is breathtakingly handsome, part of a lineage that has always understood animals, and has secretly admired her since seeing her stage mishap and lottery ticket purchase. When a hit reality show films at the zoo, Winnie goes viral and the creatures become internet celebrities. The director finally runs out of excuses to hide the truth that every animal already knows.
