The Story

A red light blinks as ten-year-old Lily cries out in pain, but her mother dismisses the warning. Trusting a bracelet meant to detect deception, the mother ignores her daughter's suffering. Ruby, Lily's twin, wears a fake green band and frames her sister. On New Year's Eve, Lily's appendix ruptures. Her desperate pleas trigger the device's shock. The mother calls it a lie, locks Lily inside, and goes to watch fireworks. Lily dies alone. The mother discovers the body and a diary revealing the truth. The bracelet detects fear and pain, not lies. Ruby's device is a toy. The mother wears the blood-stained band, constantly shocked by her own deceptions. She goes mad and attacks Ruby, leaving her crippled. The father leaves the home. The mother dies hugging the diary. Lily's soul finds peace.
