The Story

Three-year-old Lily prepares porridge for her dying mother, Mia, who suffers from stomach cancer. On her deathbed, Mia urges Lily to reach out to her biological father, Ethan. Vivian, who stands beside Ethan, intercepts and deletes the call. Following Mia’s death, Ethan takes Lily in and confirms her identity as his daughter. Vivian then abandons the child in the wilderness. A letter hidden inside Lily’s teddy bear reveals that Ethan’s father threatened Mia’s parents to force her away years earlier. Mia returns to life as Sophia. Lily recognizes her at a banquet, and Ethan confirms her identity through a signature gesture. He kneels to beg for forgiveness, but Mia refuses. Ethan holds a press conference to expose his father’s crimes and publicly declares his love. Mia holds Lily in her arms, smiling at Ethan from the foot of the steps as the family walks through the door together.
