Ashes for My Sister's Destiny

The Story

An astrologer’s ancient curse binds two sisters together in a deadly web of superstition. Juniper and Odette were born under a fatal prediction that Juniper’s brilliance would lead to Odette’s demise. Their parents accept this dark fate, punishing Juniper for eighteen years because she is smarter and works harder. On the day of the SAT, the family locks Juniper inside a freezing industrial freezer, believing her sacrifice will protect Odette. They seize her admission ticket and seal the door, convinced that suffering will avert the tragedy. Outside the cold metal, Odette pleads desperately for her sister’s release. The temperature drops as Juniper endures the freezing dark. She realizes the prophecy was not the only force threatening to destroy their family. The truth behind the parents’ actions remains hidden as the cold continues to close in on the trapped girl.
