I Woke Up in 1865 with a Debt, a Widow, and a Rifle

The Story

Modern special forces soldier Martin awakens in 1865 inside the body of a wounded Union engineer. His brother died at the hands of creditors, leaving behind a crushing debt, a dilapidated cabin, and Susan, a widow living in constant fear of local thugs. When a creditor attacks Susan, Martin steps in to protect her. Cole soon returns with armed men, demanding she be taken away. Martin drives the attackers back and then applies his military training to fortify the home. He constructs reinforced walls, observation posts, and an early warning perimeter. The soldier also addresses food shortages, disease, and limited ammunition. He works to clear the remaining debts while establishing his reputation as a fearless protector on the frontier.
