My Dragon, Not Hers
The Story
Mira refuses to kneel when her former betrothed demands she wipe Lia’s boots, choosing instead to walk barefoot across burning coals. She breaks the engagement after they strip away her clan position, inheritance, and mother’s dragon, leaving only the shame of a three-year training gone wrong. A column of black war-dragons then descends, and their lord claims her, revealing he waited eight years for her answer. He brings a bloodwing dragon and three thousand acres of dragonland to the union. On her wedding day, the old betrothed watches from the crowd as Mira marries this new man. The dragon he spent years taming finally rejects Lia, throwing her to the ground. The beast flies home to Mira, completing the transfer of power and loyalty that the previous arrangement denied her. The stolen creature returns to its true master, ending the betrayal that defined their shared history.
