The Story

Kael is branded a failure when the Valen chieftain, Roland, strips him of his succession and family crest for lacking draconic resonance. Cast out into Dragonveil Valley, he bonds with Dramor, a dusty silver hatchling, during a deadly ambush by dragon hunters. Seven elemental runes bloom on Kael’s wrist as they vow to reclaim their status at the Valen Grand Tournament in seven days. Training in an abandoned quarry, they slay a rock-armor grizzly while Dramor devours a monster core to mature rapidly. Their trail is exposed, forcing them into Twin Peaks Gorge where their pact’s fire transforms into enormous wings that carry them to the open sea. Disguised as a weak pair, they enter the tournament. Kael overpowers a wind dragon wielder and defeats a lightning dragon pair. In the final match, wounded Dramor shields Kael, triggering the second pact rune. Lightning and flame unleash as the boy and dragon fuse into a new Thunderfire form.
