The Story

Successful entrepreneur Madeline Hawthorne returns to Virtue Creek to invest one billion dollars, honoring her grandfather’s dying wish. She arrives for the tenth memorial of his passing, only to encounter immediate hostility. Her aunt, uncle, and cousin resort to emotional blackmail, attempting to force her into a marriage in exchange for a substantial bride price. The situation escalates when her true identity becomes public knowledge. The entire family, joined by the Town Supervisor, greedily demands even more from her. Even a student she previously sponsored turns against her, conspiring to traffic her to Myanmar.
